Sheikh Mansour bought Manchester City Football Club...
What were you doing on Monday 1st September 2008. When you found out we'd been bought by an Abu Dhabi Sheikh?
I was on holiday in Cornwall - in fact I'd just eaten an early evening Meal on the Tuesday night at Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and was walking along the front when I heard two blokes talking about it.
I quickly found a pub with Sky and watched the rolling news after buying every remaining paper I could find.
My flabber was well and truely ghasted.

Cannot remember the exact moment, but I was working for myself back then from my office at home like I had been the 18 years prior to that.
It was the beginning of the end as we were just 1 year into the global economic crash so it was just about taking effect.
So my beloved club was on the turn of going upwards for once, while I was heading downwards, I would find myself working for Wilkinsons on nights doing stock taking, listening to our games being played on the radio,
this was to supplement my income for the next four years and then eventually i would end up working for another company in my specialised field where my working life would never be the same again.
The difference between working for yourself and working for someone else is time... work for someone else you tend to wish your weeks away which become months
and years.. work for yourself doing what you like doing.. and you'll never have done a days work.

halcyon days my friend... halcyon days..

A brilliant day in the history of Manchester City, as it meant that we could finally compete for top players, prizes and get back amongst the nations best teams, which is what we were for a large period of our history prior to that.

Thank you HRH Sheikh Mansour

I was working out in Gibraltar at the time and had just phoned home to speak with my parents about something from work, and was told "Have you seen the news on City?", I hadn't done as although we had an Internet Terminal in the office, it was not for just going on and browsing about to use, instead it was meant for booking flights, hire travel and hotel accommodation should the MOD decide that we had to go somewhere for a period of time, but I was dumbstruck when my Dad told me that we had been "Bought by someone richer than Abramovich and were putting bids in for top players in order to improve the Squad on the final day".......it wasn't until I finished work, then got changed and got as quickly as I could to the Town Centre and paid £1 for 30 minutes Internet use in their CafeE shop (that soon went to £2 and then £3, as there was just too much info to read about it for £1 to last long enough.

I then found out we had bid for and got Robinho, bid for Dimitar Berbatov and were also rumoured to have put bids in for the likes of David Villa, Andres Iniesta and Girogio Chiellini.......I was like a kid who had got the biggest mix-up sweet bag ever made, and just sat back and enjoyed the events unfolding before my eyes, needless to say I couldn't bloody wait for the next game and to see who we DID sign when I woke up the following day and went back into work.

The hatred levels for City that very day went from none of my friends and colleagues bothering with me or City, to suddenly EVERYONE of them wanting us to fail and hating the fact that we could spend what we wanted on who we wanted.

Things have certainly changed for City from that day to this, we now have a top manager who just doesn't buy the big names, but he goes for players who can play football his way, Mancini started this by making City a team to contended with the best around, Pep has now advanced us to another level and the top brass don't like their little cartel outplayed, they are doing their best to stop us becoming one of the best or the best teams by changing the football law on what you can spend, it is now up to the players at the club to show everybody they are good enough to overcome what the powers that be throw at them, City have to do what they believe what is right for them and just overcome those who want them to fail.
